24 little hours
What a difference a day makes. The big heat "la canicule" has ended. We woke to a misty morning and much lower temperatures, but the land and the stone buildings are still hot so it will take a day or two before it actually feels much cooler. So, what to do on a rainy day? It started with, "have you seen my blue shorts?" That induced a search of our wardrobes, which led to the pronouncement, "these wardrobes are in a mess, they need to be cleared out." This, in turn, led to, "can we store our shoes somewhere else to make room in the bottom of the wardrobes?" This, in turn, led to, "where can we store the stuff that's in the base of the spare room wardrobe?" This led to clearing out the storage boxes under the spare room beds to make room for the stuff from the base of the spare room wardrobe, which made room for our shoes, which cleared the bottom of our big wardrobe to make room for boxes for our work clothes. Ahhhh, so much neater. Oh, and we did manage to cull the number of shirts and tops and trousers and dresses and put them into some kind of order; by colour for N and by weight for me (OCD, us?). So, this evening, cooler and tired, we are feeling quite smug; cleansed of excess and living in a much more orderly house. By the way, we did eventually find the blue shorts, in another wardrobe, in the caravan.
