Midsummer Eve
As always, we celebrated Midsummer Eve in Sorva village, at the cottage of family Laine. It didn't rain, which was super nice, but it was cold. Almost all traditions were followed. Although it was only +12°C, bravest of us had a swim (extra). Bonfire place was soaking wet, so this year we didi't set fire to it. We took part to nationwide Hula hula dance challenge - at 10 p.m. all Finns were challenged to dance easy choreograph of Hula Hula song - Finland is trying to dance world record. The result will be available tomorrow if we did it or not.
Since 1955, the Midsummer holiday has always been on a Saturday (between June 20 and June 26). Earlier it was always on June 24. Many of the celebrations of midsummer take place on midsummer eve, when many workplaces are closed and shops may close their doors at noon.
+12°C, cloudy, later in the evening sunny
