The Wall
Odd sort of day, it didn't really go as planned. Well, the first part was fine; a run which ended up at the allotment to dig the first new potatoes for tonight's dinner along with a big bag of peas. Good crop too despite the dry weather.
Our friend Rosemary was visiting for the weekend and had arrived when I got home. All was well until after lunch and after I came back from Screwfix (as you do) to find she'd suddenly felt unwell. A touch of gastric upset which gradually became worse. She struggled to visit the Bearsted Carnival and Fair in the afternoon so decided that she would be better off in her own home. So instead of staying the weekend, left after a meagre dinner to drive back to Waterlooville. Pleased to say she arrived safely as we didn't really know whether it was best for her to stay or try to get back.
Understandably we only had a short time at the carnival. I was expecting rather more photographic opportunities, this one is interesting enough. Instead of walking home from the carnival I had to go on a coriander hunt, entailing a walk to Tesco, having forgotten to get it yesterday evening. Fortunately, I procured the last packet on the shelf.
The dinner was great, even though I say so myself; homemade fish cakes, new potatoes, peas, salad with cherry pie (scrumped cherries) to follow. Poor Rosemary, not able to enjoy it. So we had the rest of the evening to ourselves, something we were not expecting.
