The slow road.
This collage is of the tiny village of Sercy in southern Burgundy.
The castle was built in the 12th century. Was ransacked during the French Revolution. Nearly burnt down once. Restored. Sold a few times, but has been owned by the same family since 1785. Not normally open to the public, but I took the photo from the roadside.
Our meal last night was the best we have had for twelve months. ( since we were here last time) I will put some photos up on extras tomorrow.
Today we have taken the slow road through Burgundy, but first had a look round Cluny.
Another of our favourite towns, and dominated by the huge abbey.
The D981 winds its way through beautiful countryside, and passes through lots of lovely villages.
We then detour to St Leger sur Dheune, and follow the river/canal.
Bypass Beaune, and then head to Nuit- St-George, before rejoining the motorway for the rest of the journey up to Champagne, and our final night Au Pre du Moulin, which is where our holiday started over 2 weeks ago.
Unfortunately the time has passed far to quickly, and it is back to catch the ferry tomorrow.
The temperature here is a very pleasant 26 C and still sunny. Should sleep better tonight!
