End of an Era

From that cute little five year old seven years ago to a tall handsome 12 year old of today, the last full day of Cameron's Primary years.

His leavers assembly was filled with pride, emotion and fun for the families attending and the kids celebrating the end of an era. A time of looking back and of looking forward. There was a slide show of photos which included a much loved nursery teacher who sadly died of cancer a couple of years after Cameron left Viewlands nursery. Laura, my daughter cried at that photo. The two P7 classes came on stage to the song Celebrations. She said that it was good at first and then funny as it's a long song and some of the kids were fed up with the dancing and looked like it should end - Now! Haha

They then sung to a song called As We Go Now, a lovely Scottish song about leaving and he said he was in tears then. He said a few were sobbing their eyes out. There are a lot of happy memories of days gone past and reflecting on that with all your classmates would be emotional.

They were all presented with ties from the PTA for the Academy which is joined on to Viewlands and there was the yearbook which on Cameron's page had five pics I had given to him of his first day at school with his friends. That was nice to see.

His P1 buddy Coen gave him a card and a cloth bag with his name on it and there was a pic of them together.

There was a scroll from the school and Proud moment was the medal he got presented on stage for his maths assessment which he was one of only two in the Perth and Kinross region to achieve 100%.

The school gave the kids a great send off and the two P7 teachers genuinely care about them all as it has been all through the school. Can't fault them. They work hard for the kids.

I'm so proud of Cameron and how he just quietly gets on with things without drama and his thirst for knowledge is quite something. He just needs to believe in his competence and go forward with confidence in his ability. He is looking forward to starting the Academy and learning new subjects so he can achieve his goal of becoming a scientist- same as his dad.

The end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Love this boy so much.
