Capilano Suspension bridge and Grouse Mountain

Whew, what an action packed day!
We caught the free shuttle bus to Capilano to explore the park. Our first job was to cross the suspension bridge which was built in 1889 and stretches 137m across and 230m above the Capilano river. It was pretty wobbly and myself and Dex were a little nervous at times. The huge Canadian flag was attached to the bridge to celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary on 1st July. The kids then took part in the Rainforest Explorer activity which was a great way for them (and us) to learn about the unique ecosystems. We did the Treetops adventure, which comprised of seven suspension bridges through the evergreens giving us a squirrel's eye perspective of the forest (Dex spotted the most squirrels).
We then did the cliffwalk which is a cantilevered walkway clinging to the granite cliff high above Capilano Canyon. With only 16 anchor points in the cliff supporting the structure, it was certainly adrenaline pumping! My daughter is completely unfazed by anything like this and certainly has the best head for heights out of any of us, and Dex really enjoyed this one, too.
We had a quick bite for lunch and then we headed over to Grouse Mountain which was less than 10minutes away. We caught the 'skyride' which is North America's largest aerial tramway system up to the plateau. We then explored and visited the pollinator's garden and followed the bear footprints to see two grizzly bears living in a refuge for endangered wildlife. Soon after we went and watched the birds in motion demonstration which was fantastic and so so informative, as we learned about eagles, hawks and falcons. Dexter is now in love with Peregrine Falcons!
After this we went to watch the Lumberjack show which was laugh out loud funny!
Oh yes and we caught the chair lift up to the top of the mountain where the views of Vancouver were amazing as it was such a clear sunny day. In between all of this the kids were fascinated by the large amounts of snow that they were able to play in, in their shorts and t-shirts!

A really fun day!
