A glory of wild flowers
Yesterday I went to celebrate National Meadow Day at a wildflower meadow created by my friend Mike in memory of his late partner who was a conservationist. The a video about the project is here.
The flowers were blooming in abundance in the meadow, the annuals in the blip were planted in a strip outside the boundary. It was a hot sunny day and the flowers were alive with insects.
We found a wren's nest with five chicks in that had been made in an old house martin's nest around a down pipe under the eaves of the building - a most unusual place! There's a photo in extras.
