Day 40 - Lots of power
No work on the roof but good to have most of the roof with tiles, the PV panels up and the system initial check looking good.
Spotted this non regenerative energy machine at the supermarket in Ottobeuren. Only had a few seconds to take a snap as owner came out and seemed in a hurry - apparently 420hp Chevy 8 cylinder 383 small block engine. Have to say it sounded good.
Still hoping that Mercedes Benz might call and offer me a free electric car. I hope they have my number. In the last week or so, Angie's Renault Megane has been pronounced "too broken to mend" by the garage who regularly service it and by a relative who works as a mechanic for Opel in Munich. One spring broke last week, the rear drum brakes are yet again shot (due to damp garage) and the MOT is due in June. They both say get rid of it a.s.a.p. and be happy if you don't have to pay to have it scrapped!
In the village we have a car dealer who we know well. He specialises in dealing with accident cars, mainly selling them to the former East Bloc countries such as Rumania and Poland. He has rented out the attached garage/service business to a mechanic for normal work and they work together on lots of deals. We went to see him as to how we could best get rid of it and he said he would take a look. So left the car on the forecourt and he has called to say it's in great shape and for not a great deal he will get it repaired and through it's MOT. Cost a lot less than buying another unknown used car which may only last a year or two. And he has come up with the goods.
Frankly we don't need two cars but it is rather comfortable, at least for me. Getting up at 5:00am to get Angie to the train station is not my idea of fun, even if it is only 3km. Try it on a January morning at -20°C!
