An unexpected surprise!

Before meeting ex-colleagues for lunch I had time for a walk in Rouken Glen Park. The holiday season has arrived so there were plenty of youngsters enjoying a walk in the fresh air.

After having a quick coffee in the cafe I started to walk round the pond. The cygnets have reached a rather ungainly stage in their development ..... no longer cute and certainly not sleek as they continue to lose their downy feathers.  

Just as I was about to turn off the pond path and head off in the direction of the waterfall this little family of Mallard ducklings suddenly appeared from the reeds. 10 tinies scuttling about on the surface of the water like ping pong balls ... only a day or two old I reckon ..... hope they all survive these first crucial days.
