Thirty Six

The temperature rose and rose today. I went off to see a house in the midst of it. Hot dry air today with fantastic visibility even when the needle touced 36C. This is looking across the flat valley bottom of the Mugello area of Tuscany between Florence and the Tosco-Romagnian Appenines (in the background).

Another house afflicted with movement and many cracks. But a beautiful area up at 400m above sea level on the north side of the Mt Giove massif.

Did some preparatory cleaning for our leave taking of The Pelegaccio and visited our neighbours house - three quarters of an barn conversion (which is also for sale).

Evening with friends of The Boss's from Oz, Russia, Romania, France and Scotland.

There is much fear in Tuscany now about forest fires. It is bone dry and hot dry winds would casue devastating fires. While I was out looking at the house above Arliano the Vigili di Fuoco flew past in their chopper inspecting the woodland around us. Must have been a false alarm because they soon left the area.

My estate agent, Gabriele, reckoned that once the woods catch a-fire 'ci si brucia tutto' - everything - including the oak and chestnuts will burn.
