Anax imperator
This is an emperor dragonfly, apparently Britain's bulkiest, and there's no denying that he is a pretty chunky fellow. We were at Thursley again today with all the other birders and photographers. Although Colin has departed, and there is no sign or sound of the curlews or hobbies, there are lots of dragonflies of many different varieties as well as stonechats and Dartford warblers, and it's still a lovely place for a walk, even in 30 degree heat.
