Day Out

"The village church St John the Baptist is attractive, unusual and unique in Essex and is one of only five round churches in the Country. Its design is modelled upon the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and was built by the Knights Hospitallers in around 1335."

Mbfiatw Jean came all the way from Kent to play today. After coffee and catch up in the sun filled garden, we set off for Little Maplestead, to see the round church that I had previously seen a brief article about posted on FB. Perfect weather, perfect Essex countryside - fields and hedgerows. The church was fascinating inside and out - what a wonderful time was had. Late lunch, well, afternoon tea really, in a Halstead pub on the way home.  We spent the evening engaged in putting the world to rights, with a particular focus on sorting out all the problems in UK and USA and eating cheese on toast.
