Workplace with a view
Pete and I drove over to Herefordshire this morning. Having left after the rush hour, we had a very easy run and arrived at our destination just before lunch. We had a cup of tea with the farmer and his daughter and thenspent the rest of the day recording quadrats in his grasslands. Not the most exciting of jobs, but the views towards the Black Mountains were wonderful - certainly very different from Cambridgeshire.
We finished work about 7, and then drove into Ewyas Harold, where we'd booked a room at the Dog Inn. Unfortunately they didn't serve food, and there was nowhere else in the village that did, so we had to dash up the road to the Crown Inn at Longtown. Despite finding it quite difficult to get to the bar, which was surrounded by a crowd of locals who were oblivious to strangers, we eventually had a very tasty meal of proper home-cooked pies - just the thing after a whole day of walking!
