The Tomb of the Eagles

FRIDAY

A morning shopping in Kirkwall which was busy with tourists from the Queen Elizabeth liner. After a coffee we were off to the airport to collect Harriet who arrived from London where she had been for the British Summertime Festival in Hyde Park.

After a picnic lunch, we revisited the Tomb of the Eagles - a 5000 year old burial chamber on the cliff edge Details here

Access to the chamber is possible by lying flat on one's back on a small trolley and pulling yourself backwards through a narrow tunnel using a rope suspended from the ceiling. The main photo shows me emerging from the tomb.

It's been another fab day and this evening we all sat on the beach in the sun eating fish and chips.
