Norway Day Ten
We had a morning in Flåm before taking the fast ferry back to Bergen. What a busy wee place! Another huge liner arrived at 8am, trains and buses arrived all day, with people milling around or going off to activities or just shopping. A LOT of Japanese tourists, all taking selfies.
It was a five hour journey on a fast ferry, but by the time we were leaving, the mists had descended and we could barely see the land. This was quite acceptable on our last day, as we all knew how lucky we had been, having sunshine all the way up till now - the holiday could have been so much different.
We had a super view of the old houses of Bryggen as we cruised in to Bergen and were whipped to our posh waterfront hotel. We had a prosecco with our meal and toasted Norway - what a wonderful country.
My plan to watch the Lions/All Blacks game tomorrow morning looks like a non starter. I had a couple of the men enthused to watch it instead of going shopping with their better halves, but would you believe it - there is nowhere to watch it in Bergen! The concierge really tried to find out - he rang a couple of Irish bars for us, but they won't be open at 9.30. The young lady at the counter got very excited when she realised I was from Scotland - she loves Runrig
Most of the group are leaving the hotel at 5am! A group of us are leaving in the afternoon. So, as there will be NO rugby match watching, it will be a leisurely breakfast then a wander round town especially the harbour area and fish market with possible lunch there. The end of a marvellous holiday.
Time to go home and see Archie...
