Breathtaking
Views like this need to inhaled and absorbed and cemented to memory. I took lots of photos but then made myself (and the rest of the family) sit in silence and try and take in the natural beauty of our environment.
We left Jasper this morning and joined the Icefields Parkway road, which is billed as one of the most scenic drives in the World. It didn't disappoint. We took our time and stopped often to explore the environment. Our first stop was the Athabasca Falls and then we drove on to the Columbia Icefield Centre where we could view the (receding) glacier. Then it was on to Lake Morraine (where the above photo was taken) and Lake Louise which are both areas of outstanding natural beauty. Three of us thought Lake Morraine was the most spectacular but Dexy preferred Lake Louise, which probably had something to do with a dog that kept jumping into the lake for a swim!
It was approximately 40mins from here to the town of Banff, which is our destination for the evening.
Oh, I nearly forgot, we saw another wild bear on our drive through the icefields!
