A criminal bird

At Knaresborough  Castle we were greeted by four ravens but they refrained from swearing at us, only saying 'hello'. Apparently the older birds teach the younger ones how to swear dreadfully. During  daytime in the summer when there are visitors to the castle who might be nervous or frightened, the birds are strapped to their jesses but are free to fly later in the day.

"This is because in previous years we have had problems with Raven Izabella who wanted to sit on peoples' shoulders or use visitors' heads as a perch. She would also feign illness so she would steal visitors' belongings, usually cameras or mobile phones. She is the only raven to have two ASBOS for stealing."
