Hodge Close
A far more chilled day today, it's always great to see the kids after a big day, to see them beginning to realise that they can do this, to see them quite literally developing.
I met up with the group as their route passed quite close to Hodge Close, and felt confident they were sensible enough for a little adventure into this spectacular ex quarry. It's not a secret, and you'll usually bump into an activity group or another instructor, but it is magical place very easily missed. 60m cliffs ring a seemingly bottomless pit, the slate walls streaked with colour — and the final approach is through a huge man made cavern. It's a difficult place to appreciate the scale of, but boy is it impressive.
Today's extras are again unusual for the area; Sheep's Bit Scabious & White Stonecrop.... I think.
