The whole picture
Wow, thank you for all the loveliness shown to Yesterday's Langdale blip. Back in the hills and back on the front page of pop. A double whammy of wonderful.
Out in the hills again today with a client who's become a good friend who's known to many of you, FWG of this parish.
I've heard there's an art to taking a good picture, rules of thirds, leading lines, a focal point, use of light to name but a few. But sometimes something just looks right. Most of my pictures don't have people in them, but FWG made this shot, for me a good picture tells a story.
Those familiar with the English Lake District should have no trouble recognising such a majestic skyline. A little deduction should even make it clear which couple of 1km map squares we'd be in for such a panorama to be possible. A 'sorta, kinda, probably' level of skill.
But today FWG took us to points identified by magnifying glass and pointed to with the tip of a blade of grass, paces counted, contours interpreted. An 'exactly right here' degree of skill.
There's an art to navigation too.
