WOODEN MASK

I have always been fascinated by sculptures, especially in glass, stone or wood. Discovered this recent work, which I guess shows Forest Man, looking across some parkland.

I define Forest Man as being made from dead trees and he gives them life again !
Green Man tends to be made from living trees and leaves. Stories of old indicate that figures such as these guard natural woodland and preserve the wildlife.

The image reminded me of a newspaper story from earlier in the year (February 2012) where a Banksy-style artist has been creating complex tree sculptures in a North Yorkshire wood.
