Parkside Pool On Donkey's Common.
During WW2 this was the site of a large A.T.S camp. Then in the 50's , the common was covered in pre-fabs. The swimming pool was built in 1963, and I've spent many happy hours there with my family. On my 60th birthday, I swam one mile after asking how many lengths I had to go without touching the edges, but can't remember the number now. I suppose at one time, donkeys must have grazed there, hence the name.
