Shetland Sea Birds
WEDNESDAY
After a morning at the shops in Lerwick it was a day with the birds.
The afternoon was spent in rigid inflatable zooming round the cliffs of Bressay and Noss. The extra shows a Great Skua - one of several shadowing the boat. Only 12,000 pairs of these birds still exist world-wide and half of them are in the Shetlands.
We spent the evening picnicking at Sumburgh Head. Sadly no whales or dolphins but lots of puffins (main blip) and other seabirds. We watched the sun set at 10:15 pm before heading back to Lerwick in daylight at 11:00 pm
