I'd set my alarm for this morning as we had to leave the camp site at 10am. We'd planned to leave at 9am but by the time we'd finished packing and cleaning the caravan, it was nearly 10 o'clock. We headed for Germany as we'd planned to go up the cable car at Horben which was about an hour's drive from the camp site. About an hour's drive away, Lily realised that she didn't have her purse. She thought that she may have left it in the caravan. We called the Eurocamp courier and asked him to check their bedroom. We decided that we wouldn't drive back to get it without knowing for sure that it was there. We stopped at a service station so that she could check her suitcase but it was not there. She had about 100 euros in it.
We went ahead to the cable car which took about 20 minutes to get to the top. It was really cold up there and we only stayed for about an hour. On the way down, the Eurocamp courier called to say that they'd looked everywhere for the purse but didn't find it. When we got back to the car we had another thorough look for it but didn't find it. The last time she had it was in the caravan yesterday morning so it's a mystery as to where it has gone.
We set off for Basel airport which was about a 45 minute drive. As we weer quite early, we popped to a small town about 15 minutes from the airport and found a cafe that sold lovely cakes and we had a cup of tea and cake. The car was due back at 4.30pm and I needed to fill it with petrol before returning. This was about 4.20pm and I started to panic as we kept going round in circles near the airport and not finding a petrol station. We finally found a very small diy petrol station and after several attempts of trying to get it to read my credit card, I was able to fill the car with petrol.
Our flight back to Heathrow was at 6.40pm. We ate at the airport before boarding our flight (very expensive !).
We landed at Heathrow around 7.30pm. We got the underground to Hatton Cross where Ben picked us up.
