The Palio in Siena

What else to do in Siena on the Piazza del Campo but to race the Palio?! They did with their hobbyhorses and got cheared by all who were at that square; another fab moment in Italy with hilarious fun there at lunchtime.

This Quatorze Juillet was a day of road travels for us as we had to head from our hotel in Torricello di Magione up to Pisa for our last night and be close to the Pisa airport Galileo Gallilea for our early morning return flight. And while on our way Westward we passed Siena and made our midday stop over there for some 4 hours.... far too little time to see all of that other pearl on the string of gorgeous cities in Italy's heartland Tuscany & Umbria.
