Paris
One of the side trips we planned was a day in Paris. We thought it would be fun to fly across for a fe hours to 'do lunch' in Paris.
First stop was the Eiffel Tower (here is the proof that we made it there - note that seeing I am in the photo I wasn't the photographer). The signature umbrella hats had another outing.
Second we opted for a cruise on the Seine. A great way to see all the main landmarks when we were limited for time. A stunning hour and a half on the water, that I would highly recommend to anyone heading to Paris for the first time.
Third stop was a great wee cafe. I can't recall the name of it but would highly recommend it if I could - good food, good coffee and a delightful waiter who really made our day with his sense of fun.
From there we did a little shopping and then headed out to the airport. When we got there we were early and they were boarding 3 flights that had been delayed earlier in the day so were told to take a seat, to limit their congestion at the gate, and wait for our flight to be called.
Hours later, when no flight had been called, we were told that it had gone without us. Well what a mess! They had only put the boarding call over the boarding lounge - after telling us not to go there!
A very bad experience, with extremely rude and unhelpful airport staff!
By this time it was nearly 10 p,m, so we decided the best thing to do was to hot foot it across town (150 Euros for the taxi) to Charles de Gaulle in the hopes of another flight. None to be had.
See tomorrow's blip for more drama. . .
