Tongariro National Park. Central Plateau

We travelled from Taupo to Palmerston North today, via the Desert Road (State Highway 1). With the amount of snow that had fallen last week, we thought there may have been a lot of snow down, providing fantastic scenery. But we were disappointed - it was amazing how much had melted. I did manage to take a few photos while travelling in the car. We did stop at one stage, and one of my extra's shows another family stopped making a snowman.

My other extra photo is a rather busy photo of some road works we came across. Last week a truck crashed in the bridge, blocking and closing the road for several days. Here the bridge is being repaired, hence the road being down to one way.
