Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2017 Monday -- Morro Bay National Estuary

Early this afternoon, we made our weekly sojourn to the mini-community of Baywood Park, which is really within the city limits of Los Osos, to attend the Monday Farmers Market and get a couple jars of Stephanie's newest soup. She has two brand new flavors this week: cranberry bean with farro and then coconut lemongrass with bamboo shots and sweet corn. Stephanie is nothing less than a soup chef!

We were actually a few minutes early because we wanted to stop at a bakery that we discovered last Monday there in Baywood Park. The baker creates everything with whole grains and everything has sourdough in it, even the cookies, and his shortbread cookies are the best. Once we got our baked goods, a loaf of bread and several varieties of cookies, we were still early to drop off our soup jars with Stephanie, so we detoured to look at the fog drifting on the Estuary.

We had never been to this Audubon Society bird watching area before and we were quite impressed with the beauty of the location; the sound of the birds was quite lovely.

Then we were off to get soup and to make our weekly stop at the grocery store. I also want to note that Mr. Fun is not feeling well. My man who is almost never cold, is having the chills. We've been eating a vegan diet for 2 1/2 years now, and when we don't feel well, the basic instinct is to think we should find some meat to include in our diet, which is faulty thinking I'm sure. So he wanted a hamburger. Baywood Park does not have a burger place, so we ate at an Asian cafe and he ordered a grilled tuna fish sandwich. I ordered fish & chips. Comfort food would be the best description of what we were looking to enjoy. It was delicious, but I doubt that it was the best thing for us.

From California's Central Coast,
