Lurking by the lagoon...

Is it a Lizard a Monitor or a Dragon? There were lots in the sun alongside the track, but scuttling away quickly. I found if I walked really slowly and quietly looking ahead, I would see one, stop, and it would stay there. It probably is a common creature here, but I can't work out what it is. Any ideas?
