Infrastructure & Idiocy

410 miles in twelve hours that's not even an average of 35mph, that all bar 26 miles of the journey was on A roads and motorways makes it worse.
The torrential rain didn't help but the delay on the A30 was by and large due to the inability of drivers, mainly local if VRN's were anything to go by, to cope with the conditions.
A six mile tailback in both directions on the M5 was caused solely by drivers 'rubber necking' at an accident.
Further on there were queues and tailbacks at the approach to most junctions as drivers trying to beat the queues kept to the near side lane right up to the last moment before forcing their way over.
Is there a solution - Yes - fit a camera at each junction and if you are not on the near side lane and slip road at the "three bar mark" the appropriate fine is levied.
Anyway here we are, midnight at the Chequers Inn North Yorkshire.
