I left it...
...a bit late to do my painting today.
That is because I was researching alcohol inks...I loved some of the paintings I had seen done on You Tube.
But the price of them I thought was expensive, and found plenty of home made recipes. But by the time you add on all the costs (as well as the time), to make your own did not work out all that much cheaper.
Then I remembered I had some Copic pens and other alcohol based pens. So I gave myself half an hour to scribble the top sketch...and flicked isopropyl alcohol on it. Just to see what happened. And used a brush.
I don't think it is particularly successful.
I thought had understood from somewhere the isopropyl could blend the colours a bit, but it didn't. Maybe it was something else...lighter fuel is coming to mind now, maybe it was that?
Isopropyl did do those spreading circle effects.
I tried putting a bit more copic pen on after it had dried, but the isopropyl had no effect the second time round.
Then I did a test piece. Bottom painting.
The top six are the Copic markers, the first two lines.
The bottom two in the left column were from a few pens I had called Spectrum Noir.
The other four on the right side were Letraset pens.
And I sprinkled isopropyl to see what would happen on the neat colours.
Although I didn't like the Spectrum Noir pens to use, they were a bit rough to shade in, I did like the isopropyl effect on them.
But at the end of the day none of this rocks my boat, at least not to do a painting with. But it might be useful for a bit of an effect somewhere.
So this is my paltry effort for today for my painting a day every day in 2017.
I spent the afternoon with no sound input! No reason, just felt like a rest from sound, but I put my cochlear processor back in a short while ago and am enjoying listening to music now. The wind is getting up and the leaves are rustling a lot. It sounds a lot like crackling to me. I am sure different leaves make different rustles...the birds seem to have gone to bed...it's 9 pm and Popeye is sitting on my lap. I can feel the vibrations of his purring, but the sound of it sounds what I can only describe as feeling like a pea in a broken whistle interspersed by noises like a iron rod. I know an iron rod does not make a noise, but that is how Brain interprets this noise through the processor.
