Flowers for Karen

Dear Diary,

Before I went into teaching, I studied floral design in Boston and worked as a florist for a time.  I would have opened my own shop one day I'm sure but then I substituted at my husband's school and fell in love with teaching art.  The rest is history as they say but I still like to create dramatic arrangements from time to time and I did this one for the porch for Karen's visit.

We sat up late on the porch talking and talking.  It was wonderful to catch up on her life and talk about our mini-retreat in September to Ogunquit, Maine.  We've rented a little cottage on the ocean.  We plan to do this as an annual thing but it is great to have her here for a couple of days.
