Rennes, Rennes, a place to come again!
We had too little time to see it all. Well, it was only a stop-over to spread the driving, and a very comfortable one, too. The town has a large number of seventeenth century half-timbered houses, in varying states of repair. Top left: these houses were leaning quite alarmingly, where, bottom left, they seemed pretty upright. The house on the right is certainly falling apart, but makes an interesting feature, as you can see the lath and plaster within the timber framework. I've no idea if it's being taken down, piecemeal, or if it will be restored. Sadly, we didn't have time to visit the cathedral or the art gallery.
Left Rennes in the rain, and arrived to warm sunshine in Chinon. It has clouded over now, but is still quite close. The airbnb place we're renting seems comfortable. Looking forward to Mr PP junior and our daughter-in-law joining us in a couple of days time.
