Familiar Walk

I met France dweller for a walk along the river to Okel Tor and the old mines this morning. As the pilings that were put in to strengthen the bank round the river have failed to do their job there is a plan to flood the field - so who knows if we will be able to do this walk in the future. We bumped into The Angel and had a long chat - whilst Connie lay down and kept an eye on the guy mowing the football field! We turned up from the river to the old mining works and I took the usual photos of the chimney and for once I felt happy with them! More so since I caught the seagulls on it! We stomped home through a rain shower as we were meeting FD's mum for lunch in the village cafe. We found Circus Girl in the house of Homeopathic Girl ( they are in Cambodia!)- she was waiting for her son and reading one of the many books FD bought second hand from Tavistock market! We had a good chat about books whilst FD showered and then we were off! Gorgeous lunch as usual and the conversation ranged from the historic events FD's mum has lived through, to the existence of ghosts and spiritual matters, and finally whether dogs should wear coats! I was in favour and my dog had a waxed jacket to match my Australian waxed coat! Saved a lot of drying of wet and muddy fur! Mum was also in favour, but she has a pretty coat which is more fashion than function, FD was a definite no!
later in the evening FD came up for the usual G&T - we were going to have a drink on the allotment but since the rain had come in again we stayed in! Luckily by  the hens  bedtime it had stopped - FD laughed at my bee keeper mosquito hat and on trying to identify a white flower on my allotment I realised I had not got my glasses on! I reassured FD that long distance my eyesight was ok for driving! On chucking Izzy out the coop to gather the eggs I felt something funny against my neck - it was my glasses - must have knocked them off whilst putting my hat on! FD laughed incredulously and said I was the maddest person she knew! No more gin for her then!
I've  blipped  glads again! I swear it's the gin making me have a yen for the glads!
The Familiar Walk is here and The Dream House here - I think Calstock can give the dream house a run for it's money!
