Pride
Norwich Pride, appropriately in a city with a lion on it's coat of arms.
After a session at wheelchair basketball we headed into the city and were rewarded with a rare find - an empty disabled parking bay, right where we needed it! So we had plenty of time to mooch round the stalls, gather stickers, meet a friend, make a new contact and still have time to pick the best spot for viewing. We chose the steps up to the grand entrance of City Hall, not realising that we were to be joined by the welcoming group including both Norwich MP's. Clive Lewis (Lab - Norwich South - rainbow hat) gave a rousing welcome while also highlighting some of the places in the world where there is great intolerance of gender diversity. He stayed on the steps throughout. Chloe Smith (Con - Norwich North) braved a rather hostile reception and was also rousing in her defence of all minorities and the causes of tolerance and inclusion.
Good natured, colourful, sometimes eccentric, this was a happy occasion. We moved on to Chapelfield gardens where there were more stalls and live music. After a while at the front with Jamie I retired to a nearby bench with my book.
Home now and he may be tired but still has energy for making a double batch of muffins which are now in the oven :-)
