To Treshnish

We set off for Mull for a week. A late cancellation came up and suddenly the thought of Mull breezes and cool days seemed very enticing in the mid July heat of Tuscany.

Even for people escaping that heat the drive up through the Trossachs was an object lesson in Highland gloominess. The fish and chips in Oban were as good as ever and the ferry ride showed the island cloaked in deep cloud.

But as we drove over the snaky moorland road from Salen to Dervaig the clouds began to lift and by the time we were passed Calgary and the spectacular bay road the sun was breaking through.

We were amazed by our 'Studio' accommodation that turned out to be spacious, beautifully lit with natural light and decorated and furnished in Treshnish's wonderful style. And the sun room afforded fantastic views across the sound to Coll.  I kept saying to The Boss, 'Are you sure this is our place?'

A nice Danish couple were staying near us and were a little bemused about where to go. It turned out the guy was my 'glasses twin' (a very Seinfeld reference). He noticed I was sporting some Danish frames and told me that they had been designed in his office. Both he and his wife were wearing the same frames.

It felt very home-like to be back at Treshnish Point after our first sojourn in Tuscany.

There is an extra of the view across to Coll.
