Amazon memory

Four pictures, but one memory.
 
I am still scanning photos and have reached the year 2000. That was the year we went to Peru and what an adventure it was. Of course we went to Cuzco and Machu Picchu, something we will never forget, but we did a lot of other things as well.
 
Amazon
From Iquitos we were taken down the River Amazon and stayed overnight in a jungle camp. Only by being there, do you realise what an enormous river it is and that there are many narrow tributaries overhung with vegetation. Going out on the water in the evening, with all the jungle sounds and sights, was an amazing experience.
 
So this is a memory of the Amazon – some of the photos I have been scanning and a painting that we brought back with us.
 
Astonishing to think that there was a time when Amazon meant River and nothing else!!
