Butterflies on Castle Ring

The sunshine was so glorious this morning that I couldn't resist making a trip back to my favourite spot on Cannock Chase, the highest point - the Iron Age fort of Castle Ring.

Imagine my surprise to be greeted by butterflies. I've either not been there in the right seasons or I've never really noticed because there wasn't only this Speckled Brown hiding behind the grass and raindrops, but there was also a
Red Admiral

I half hoped to find some adders basking in the sunshine. They are known to be there and I saw them when I was walking there with a friend two years ago. But there were none to be seen.
