Sammy Snail and Lucy Ladybird

Yes, I name the creatures I paint. And why not! This piece is a design for a greetings card, perhaps for an engagement or Valentine's.

Worked entirely from the photos I have taken, the Honeysuckle flowers and berries are worked with repeated pairs of leaves. The stems were drawn in first to create the heart shape and form a basis on which to build up the rest of the composition.

This one took ages so I am glad to see the finished result.
