Not Again! *sigh*
Yesterday's hummingbird/violent storm blip posted late this evening.
Those of you who have known me for a while, know that I'm the walking, talking epitome of Murphy's Law. For those of you who haven't, take my word for it. In fact, my picture is next to the phrase in the dictionary.
As you probably surmised from the frustration expressed in my photo, it wasn't a great day. I got the results of Saturday's shoulder MRI. I recorded the conversation so I would remember the details. Here's the lay explanation:
The rotator cuff is intact, which is actually kind of bad news because rotator cuff tears can be repaired. There's a tendon which is attached to the rotator cuff. That tendon then extends into the muscle. I have a tear in the tendon that is deep, deep inside the muscle, close to the chest wall, near the clavicle.
Doctor:
"This is weird, I've never seen anything like this before."
"How do you get these things?!"
Even the doctor recognizes Murphy's Law when he sees it!
"You can't have surgery on muscles. It's like cutting into meat. You can't repair anything in meat."
So...he's going to consult with two top shoulder specialists (neither were there at the moment) and call me ASAP. In the meantime, I have to stop going to therapy and just rest. With any kind of straining, the tear can expand. Damn.
PS You never know when an investment in Despicable Me band-aids will come in handy.
