The case of the floating green bottle
Today was the last of our cycling holiday. Our total mileage after the 58 mile cycle east along the Union canal today is 454 miles. You can see the full holiday route (the red line) and where we stayed (the purple dots) on the map in my extra.
Given the forecast, we count ourselves lucky that the weather was fine today. We were expecting rain - there was an 80% chance of precipitation predicted at one point - but none came. We also found today's ride much easier than on the way out, perhaps because it was cooler than on 18th July when we set off on our travels, and also due to our improved fitness after all our recent cycling heroics.
The canal had a mirror-like surface most of the way, so this provided a lot of blipportunities. The shot that I have chosen gives the illusion of a bottle suspended in mid-air, rather than floating in the still water. (BTW the specks in the image are bits of petals from flowers, such as meadowsweet, that grow alongside the canal.)
Exercise today: 58 miles of tandem riding.
