Pendley Manor Shakespeare
Pendley Manor is a classy hotel on the outskirts of Tring and every year for the past 68 years it has hosted a summer Shakespeare Festival. Two plays are performed - one tragedy and one comedy - in an outdoor setting. More recently, there have been covered stands for the audience although there is still completely open seating at the front. I have been to this festival almost every year since I have lived in the area and have always been impressed and excited by the productions.
A friend and I decided at the last minute to go to see this well-known tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Each time I see it I hope that perhaps it will end differently (rather like watching Titanic and hoping it won't actually sink!)
I was home really late as it's a long play, plus travel - so this is a back blip. Next week it's The Taming of the Shrew.
