Baby Ducklings

More new arrivals this morning, with our first baby ducklings arriving on our pond. This mother paradise duck had 10 wee babies (although only 6 made it into the photo) - and the closer I got the louder her 'quack' got. I suppose she was warning other ducks that there was a so called human predator around. Dad duck (who I blipped here) was also on the pond overseeing his family, although he kept his distance from his partner and babies.

Every year we usually have two or three set of ducklings on the pond, although this year the breeding season seems to be later running about 3 weeks behind.
