GinGin Church
The Anglican church of St Luke, built in 1860 in the Shire of GinGin
Is built from Casuarina Stone, shingled roof and curtained windows, it was opened on February 23rd 1861.
Described as a pretty and substantial building it became the nucleus around which the town was developed.
School was held here during the 1860’s.
In 1877 stained glass windows were added, and adze hewn pews installed. the bell in the tower was part of a clock on the GovernmentOffice in Perth.
We always admire this little church as we walk through the garden the locals carefully tend, battling the heat of those pioneer days must have been quite a feat in the 1800’s.
