Bulrushes

On the first leg of our journey home, spent all day today travelling - first, in the "wrong direction" to deliver the youngsters to Tours for their flight home, then retracing our tracks to head up to Brittany. We're overnighting in an Ibis hotel before the shorter run to Roscoff ferry tomorrow.

Broke our journey at a picnic place near le Lion-d'Angers, where bulrushes grew round a large pond. Butterflies - meadow browns, small whites and fritillaries - fluttered around in the hot sun, too. Earlier, I'd grabbed a photo of sunflowers' "last hoorah" through the car window. Further south, they'd stood, row upon row of bowed heads, going to seed, in every field we passed, so it was good to catch some still in flower. See my Extra.

Very tired, so heading now (I hope) to the Land of Nod. Zzzzzzzzz...
