A is for....
.....Anchor, a monument found alongside the Kaiapoi River, signifying the importance of the Port of Kaiapoi to the town of Kaiapoi.
A busy port developed at Kaiapoi after the town was established in the 1850s. It became one of the busiest coastal ports in the country, with vessels carrying passengers and cargo to and from other parts of New Zealand. Today the river is a quieter place, some fishing boats come and go while people fish off the wharf. It is home to the Cure Rowing Club and the local Coastguard.
As you can see, winter has returned. It's been a cold dismal day with rain later in the day. Mum and I visited R today, he was very grumpy and didn't want us there, our visit was short. Nice to pop into Kaiapoi to do our weekly shop and for me to get a blip.
Blips may be a bit hit and miss as my father-in-law is in hospital at present, think I'll be flying in the next few days.
Thanks to BobsBlip for hosting Wide Angle Wednesday, the theme starting with A or T for August or 8 items with August being the eighth month.
Must fly...tea to cook and plenty to sort out for the next few days.
Keep well blippers :)
