Getting there
The third reason for coming back to the Hebrides was to attend an archaeological conference on the Island over the next three days.
Fascinating stuff and all the great and the good of the Hebridean archaeological world there. Good to see some familiar faces as well as meet several new ones. A real line-up of Time Team stars!
One of the delegates I first met in 1976 when I was on Fair Isle as Seabird Assistant and he he was excavating an Armada wreck. He persuaded the Loganair pilot to give us a quick flight around the island to take photos of the wreck site and we all managed to cram on board. The first time I had been on a plane I think!
