Master Sidney Rankin Drew, Age 4

This fine young man shows up in my family tree about 1891, the son of my Great Aunt Gladys Rankin and Sidney Drew.   He was an actor and film director compiling an impressive log of 36 appearances in films and 14 directorial efforts between 1913 and 1917.
 
 Actors marry actors it seems and this branch of my family bears that out. Gladys’ sisters Doris and Phyllis married Lionel Barrymore and Harry Davenport bringing together two very distinguished American theater families.  As you might imagine, there are multiple marriages in this group but if you follow the line eventually you get to John Drew Barrymore and ultimately, Drew Barrymore. 
 
As for Master Sidney, sadly he was killed in action when his plane was shot down over France during WWI.
