"29.05.16"
As I've mentioned recently, I don't lie in much anymore and also I'm getting up a bit earlier, which makes me think of being in my teens and doing my paper round and how, in warmer months, older people would be up and gardening as I delivered the papers.
This morning, I woke around six, dozed for a bit and then decided to go for a run, so I did five miles before breakfast, which felt great and set me up for the day. In the evening I cooked chilli and did a bit of blogging in the kitchen, which reminded me I hadn't taken a photo today. Lazily, then, I made it as far as the hall.
I am one of those people who can't see a flat surface without finding some clutter to put on it and although I do tidy up from time to time, the hall table has some desiccated flowers (which I do like), a bottle of Public Service Broadcasting ale from when we went to Ebbw Vale to see them play the new album, and a stone, on which someone has painted 29.5.16.
I looked back through my blips and that day I was in London with my brother, and Dan and Abi. I don't know, maybe Abi picked up the stone and painted it. It wouldn't have been Dan or my brother. Or maybe the Minx went somewhere and gave me the stone.
But now, sentimental as I am, I can't bear to get rid of it. It just sits on the hall table, a mystery gift with a surprising date from who knows who.
