St Paul's Lates

An interesting evening.  When I saw that St Paul's cathedral in London was opening up its doors late on Thursday evenings through the summer and also allowing photography, I quickly jumped in and got tickets.  It is more years than I care to remember since I was last there. I remember it as a bright airy place but this evening it felt dark and gloomy even though it was quite bright outside.  Light levels were appalling, even with high ISO and large aperture. The website had said no tripods & flash but lots were being used  and, apparently, they don't advertise it but they don;t really mind as long as tripods are used sensibly!  I might pop back with all the kit!

It's an interesting building and not to everyone's taste.  Founded in the 7th century by King Ethelburg of Kent, it has had a chequered history but is now an iconic feature of the London skyline. My blip is using my 12mm lens and I love the distortion effect - I'll add an extra which is actually a stack of chairs - I liked the shapes.  I did take some 'normal' photos as well!!
