Autumn cosmos

Today was the day to begin digging up the annuals and removing them to the compost heap. There, they will convert their goodness and return to nourish others next year.

Before getting down to work, I took a number of photos of dead flowers. Going through them all felt a little depressing - so that's it then, the last vestiges of summer 2012. Some, like this one, reminded me of not only what has been but that it must end. It is tired, it has given of its best; it is now time to fold away the petals and move on.

All that needs to said is 'Thank You!'
